Andrew Daedler, M.D. Class of 2024

Hometown:

Whittier, California

Medical School:

Temple University-LKSOM

Why UCI?

From the faculty to the residents, UCI is really about their mission to care for the underserved, marginalized communities of Southern California. It's a focus on community medicine with the benefit of a world-class academic institution. The residents are like family and have cultivated a positive, inclusive culture that prioritizes well-being. I chose UCI for these reasons as well as the desire to serve mi gente - the Latinx community of SoCal!

Medical Interests:

Full-spectrum Family Medicine, Primary Care for urban underserved populations (especially undocumented immigrants, Latinx, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people experiencing homelessness), Racism in Medicine, Bioethics, Health Policy, Addiction Medicine, Family Planning, Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hobbies:

Competitive Runner, Musician (bass guitar, drums), Music Lover (Hip-Hop, Reggaetón, Punk Rock, Shoegaze), Los Angeles Dodgers Fan, Coffee & Craft Beer Enthusiast, Mini Australian Shepherd Dog Owner, Husband, and Girl Dad!

Fun Fact(s):

Before medical school I ran a 3:59 mile (yes, it was downhill... but now that I'm out of shape I like referring to myself as a sub-four miler lol)

Future Plans:

Full-spectrum Family Medicine at an FQHC in SoCal
