Jessenia Knowles, M.D.

Jessenia Knowles, M.D. Class of 2024

Hometown:

Washington, DC

Medical School:

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences

Why UCI?

I chose UCI because I identified with UCI Family Medicine's mission to serve an underserved community at an FQHC. The drive, dedication, and passion by UCI faculty and residents is contagious, and since the very first day I have seen and felt the support that the program, faculty, and residents provide! I also really liked the PRIME-LC and integrative tracks, and the multiple opportunities to get involved in our surrounding community!

Medical Interests:

I love so many aspects of family medicine! Right now I'm very interested in underserved medicine, women's health, geriatrics, and preventative medicine.

Hobbies:

Playing the ukulele, singing, acrylic painting, cross-stitching, watching Netflix!

Fun Fact(s):

I actually don't have a true hometown! I grew up in the State Department and have lived on 5 continents throughout my life, which has led me to have such a deep love for community.

Future Plans:

I want to work at an FQHC that serves a large Spanish-speaking community where I can blend public health initiatives and patient care. I would also like to mentor underrepresented minorities who want to pursue medicine!
