Cindy Yang, M.D. Class of 2023

Hometown:

Irvine, CA

Medical School:

Boston University School of Medicine

Why UCI?

Being from Irvine, California, I wanted to come back home and train in a region to serve my hometown. UC Irvine was a perfect balance between an academic center and one that focused on community work, especially since the continuity clinic was located in an FQHC. Additionally, this program struck me as being very receptive to feedback from residents to make changes for the better, which has only shown to be true. So far, I have loved how genuine the faculty and residents have been, and I have only felt supported in terms of my future goals. Finally, OC has amazing food and great ways to destress when you aren't working. It's so good to be home!

Medical Interests:

Outpatient procedures, women's health, addiction medicine, mentorship/teaching, integrative medicine, and community outreach

Hobbies:

Board/card games, karaoke, exploring new foods, traveling, blogging/photography, spending time with family and friends

Fun Facts:

I am known for blogging on Instagram and being extra by taking pics of everything! I am the oldest of two other siblings, and we are all in healthcare. I worked as a medical scribe at UCI ED before medical school, and now I am back at UCI as a resident!

Future Plans:

Ideally, I’d love be able to integrative women’s health, addiction/integrative medicine, and outpatient procedures while seeing the wonderful variety that Family Medicine has to offer. I would also like to utilize my passion for art and technology to simplify health-related topics to empower the community with knowledge related to their health.
