Why UCI?

What drew me most to UCI is the people, whom I believe play a big role in establishing the culture of the residency. The faculty have diverse expertise, allowing me to pursue the broad spectrum of opportunities family medicine offers. The residents are humble and generous, and continue to surprise me constantly with their talents and perspectives.

Medical Interests:

Behavioral/mental health, addiction/substance abuse, geriatrics, palliative care

Hobbies:

What’s most important to me is spending time with the people I love. With them, doing anything can be fun. Spending time outdoors, gardening, reading, watching tv, trying to exercise, housework, etc.

Fun Facts:

We have a dog and a cat from Wisconsin and I'm nearly deaf in one ear.

Future Plans:

A part of me wants to find an opportunity where I would be able to see fewer patients for more time per person in exchange for a smaller income overall. Another part of me wants to work within but also outside of medicine to find a way to better address the needs of our patients. Medicine has put me in a position where people have been more willing to trust me with their insecurities. They have shown me how much still needs to be done, and I often feel the need to work outside medicine in order to act on these lessons.
