Why UCI?

I hate to sound cliché, but you know when they talk about that strange visceral feeling you get when you go to a program and just /feel/ that it's the one for you? When I stepped foot into the teaching kitchen at the UCI Family Health Center in Santa Ana, I was already impressed. As I learned more about the program, the FQHC, the patient population, the people, and the opportunities that would allow me to hone in on my specific interests, I was hooked. I left my interview day feeling that I would have great training that would allow me to tap into my medical interests of underserved medicine, academic medicine, global health, and behavioral health, as well as giving me the ability to forge a path forward in HIV and LGBTQIA+ care.

Medical Interests:

Underserved medicine, academic medicine, HIV medicine, global health, behavioral health, LGBTQIA+ care

Hobbies:

Cooking, singing, video games

Fun Facts:

I speak 4 languages - English (... sometimes I wonder though), French, Vietnamese, and Spanish!

Future Plans:

Fellowship involving HIV/LGBTQIA+ medicine, Global Health, or Behavioral Medicine. Work with Doctors Without Borders intermittently? Be involved in academics. Continue eating good food. Travel again... someday.
